A wood fire asks for adjusting. A log that needs shifting, a stove door that has to open while it is already warm, a poker that has become hotter at the end than you thought. You do not do that with an oven mitt from the kitchen drawer.
Heat resistant leather gloves are made for it: long enough to cover your forearm, and stiff enough to take sparks.
At an open fireplace or fire bowl sparks fly. On woven fabric or plastic such a spark can melt in, on leather it cannot. These gloves score level 4 on burning behaviour, the highest within the EN 407 standard, which means the material goes out almost at once as soon as the flame is gone.
This category holds the heat resistant leather gloves in brown and black, and the fireplace bundles in which they sit together with wood wool and a felt log basket.
You always receive a pair. They are one size, with a hand length of 22 centimetres and a hand circumference of 32 centimetres, and they are not washable: wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth and let them dry at room temperature.
The colour makes no difference to the protection: brown and black are the same glove with the same certificate. So simply choose whatever suits what stands beside your fireplace or stove.
If you mainly use them at the barbecue, have a look at BBQ gloves. The rest of the fireplace tools are with fireplace accessories, and for fire outdoors you look at fire bowls and garden fire. Something to light the wood with is with fireplace lighters.
